LinkedIn’s Latest Features: What You Need to Know

LinkedIn’s Latest Features: What You Need to Know

LinkedIn Is Evolving. Are You Keeping Up?

Just when you think you’ve got LinkedIn figured out, the platform switches things up again. If you want to stay ahead, it’s time to get up to speed with the latest changes.

I’m breaking down six key LinkedIn updates that could impact your strategy. And trust me, the final one is a game changer for anyone serious about building their presence on LinkedIn.

This article is inspired by the recent episode of the Social Media for B2B Growth Podcast hosted by Michelle J Raymond, which discusses this topic in more detail.

1. LinkedIn Profile Banner Slideshow

Your LinkedIn profile banner just got a major upgrade! Instead of a static image, you can now create a slideshow that rotates every four seconds.

Why This Matters

Think of your profile banner as a personal billboard. Now, you can use it to:

  • Showcase different products or services

  • Promote upcoming events

  • Highlight your expertise

This is a brilliant opportunity to make a stronger first impression when people visit your profile. Keep an eye out for the rollout. Like all LinkedIn updates, it happens in waves, so you might not have it yet.

Unfortunately though you are required to have a Premium Business account.

2. LinkedIn Newsletter Analytics Gets an Upgrade

If you’ve been using LinkedIn Newsletters, you’ll know that the analytics have been, well… underwhelming. But good news: LinkedIn has now added open rate and email send data.

Why This Matters

This gives you better insights into how your newsletter is performing. You’ll now be able to see:

  • How many people opened your newsletter

  • How well your newsletter performs compared to email campaigns

This update makes LinkedIn newsletters even more valuable for thought leadership and lead generation.

3. Video Feed Comes to Desktop

Previously, LinkedIn’s video feed was mobile-only. Now, it’s available on desktop too.

Why This Matters

This update means more people may start engaging with video content on LinkedIn. But, let’s be real, I’m not convinced that the LinkedIn video feed is what people want. Short-form video had a huge boost when it launched, but the numbers seem to be dropping.

Will video stick? That’s something I'll keep watching out for. But safe to say LinkedIn thinks so.

4. LinkedIn Premium Duo: Share a Subscription and Save Money

Premium Duo allows you to subscribe to LinkedIn Premium Career or Business and share the subscription with another person via email, whether they are within or outside your network.

If you’re using LinkedIn Premium Career or Business, you can now share your subscription with another LinkedIn member and get a discount of between 15% and 25%.

Who doesn’t love a discount? The only downside? It’s a bit clunky to set up. You need to cancel your existing plan first and then sign up again to add a second user. Hopefully, LinkedIn smooths this out soon!

5. New Profile Analytics: Track Your Discovery Source

Your Profile Appearance analytics just got more detailed. Now, you can see where people discovered your profile, including whether it was from your comments.

Why This Matters

For years, I’ve told my clients that commenting is a powerful strategy, but it was hard to measure its impact. Now, you can actually see how many profile visits came directly from your comments.

This proves that being active in the comments section isn’t just engagement. It’s a visibility strategy.

6. Comment Impressions: The Game Changer

Now for my favourite update: LinkedIn is tracking impressions on comments.

Why This Matters

This means you can now see how many people saw your comments, not just how many liked or replied. Think of it like post impressions, just applied to your engagement.

For anyone who has been doubting the power of commenting, this is the proof you’ve been waiting for. The higher your comment impressions, the more reach and visibility your LinkedIn activity is generating.

  • Applies to both personal profiles and Company Pages, which means Page Advocacy is getting even stronger. If you’ve been ignoring comments as part of your strategy, it’s time to rethink that approach!

Final Thoughts

LinkedIn is constantly evolving, and these six updates show that engagement and analytics are becoming more important than ever.

🚀 How I Grew My AI Newsletter to 50K Subs in 3 Months – And How You Can Too 📩 I’ve tested nearly every subscriber acquisition strategy out there—ads, partnerships, cross-promotions. But nothing scaled like this. Using an intent-based email subscriber system, I was able to add 50,000 engaged, opt-in US subscribers in just 3 months. No bots. No junk emails. Just real people who open, click, and engage with my newsletter. Here’s how it works: ✅ Targeted Audience – Built from real-time intent signals, filtering out low-quality traffic. ✅ Email-First Growth – Subscribers are acquired via email marketing, not ads, ensuring they engage with newsletters from day one. ✅ Instant Delivery – New subscribers are added in real-time to your ESP, so you can start monetizing immediately. This strategy can be replicated for any niche—AI, finance, SaaS, crypto, or beyond. If you’re looking to add thousands of US-based engaged subscribers without spending a fortune on ads, let’s talk. 📩 DM me or comment “SUBS” below, and I’ll share the details.
