It's here... a dedicated short-form video experience on LinkedIn. 📱 ▶ How It Works: LinkedIn is currently doing a *limited beta test* of a new video tab. If you are part of it, you'll see a video tab on the navigation bar on the iOS mobile app, where the My Network tab used to be. When you tap the video tab, you'll be directed to a full-screen, vertical feed featuring short-form videos, which you can scroll through. Similar to other short-form video experiences, you can like, comment on, and share a video, as well as view the full post caption via 'See More.' ▶ Why It Matters: LinkedIn's move into short-form video shouldn't be a surprise for two reasons: 1️⃣ It aligns with the rise of this content format across social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat, as well as other types of platforms, including streaming services like Spotify and Netflix. 2️⃣ LinkedIn has been putting more effort into video content. At the end of 2023, it added a short-form video experience to the LinkedIn Learning app called Daily. This new feature, similar to traditional social media platforms, allows users to discover and engage with snackable video content from creators, thought leaders, educators, marketers, and more. The reactions to this will likely vary, with video-focused creators being excited about another place to share their content, while others may be wary of LinkedIn becoming another TikTok. One way LinkedIn could eliminate potential pushback is by curating the experience and ensuring that the videos that surface in the feed are of high quality and align with what most people come here for—education and learning. Given LinkedIn's decision to sunset Stories after experimenting with the content format for a few years, the same could happen with this if the experience doesn't catch on with users. Good move or no? Shout out to Austin Null for the video recording, go give him a follow. cool! excited to play
Great to have another channel to share & consume short-form content. Long form VLOGS are trending on TT now so… 😝
Makes sense to test, probably won't take off the way vertical video has on the other socials, but there is an element of video that is missing right now.
Exciting change! Do you think this will completely take over square video format?
Welcome to the party LinkedIn 🎉
Do we know how “short” is short-form?
Curious about Matt Navarra's and Sophie Miller's take on this! Despite rumors, I wasn't expecting this development for at least a couple more years
Ahhhhh I’m so hyped for this!!! I’ll actually post on LinkedIn now. Excited to see how the algorithm works

1yThis is so cool to see! I've been posting short form vertical on TikTok the last few weeks - actually have one ready to go today - and it will be interested to see how it develops! It's not TIKTOK, so it will need to develop its own formating/etc. But excited to learn!
