Enter a World of Frozen Wonders

Visit a charming English village, consort with king penguins and visit the site of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s grave. This trip offers a blend of otherworldly ice, dunes, biodiverse beaches, ghosts—and so many birds. Dubbed the “Galápagos of the Poles,” South Georgia is home to over 30 million breeding birds and nesting sites of the wandering albatross. Thousands of seals, four breeding species of penguin and the largest colony of king penguins on the planet all live semi-harmoniously in this community.

A Biodiverse Birders’ Paradise

Experience Otherworldly Landscapes

The seventh continent delivers endless days of congregating wildlife and the sheer, silent serenity of the Antarctic Peninsula’s topography. Insert a day exploring Stanley and this trip checks off every box from the Drake Passage, to penguins, to genuine Brit fish and chips. Just add a polar plunge to complete the experience.

The Ship & Cabins

The Ocean Explorer

The Ocean Explorer is a 138-passenger vessel with extensive outdoor deck space, two outdoor jacuzzis and numerous cozy spots to socialize onboard. One of the ship’s key features is the ULSTEIN X-BOW®, a marine engineering innovation that ensures a comfortable and smooth sailing experience thanks to the inverted bow. The two new Rolls Royce engines have increased fuel efficiency and help minimize the ship’s carbon footprint.

Spacious cabins feature a modern, bespoke Scandinavian design and almost all have verandas. Guests can relax and find comfort in the spacious gym, sauna with large windows, and two outdoor Jacuzzis.

Ship Specifications

The Ocean Explorer features ample outdoor viewing areas and multi-height outer decks, which are ideal for long-view photography and wildlife viewing. The vessel is equipped with a fleet of 15 Zodiacs that enable guests to get off the ship quickly and safely for off-ship adventures. In addition, the staff and crew of the Ocean Explorer, a 138-passenger ship, will also be co-ed.

Our Expedition Cruise Partner’s Client Portal

Approximately three to four months prior to departure, you will receive an email with a unique URL link to our partner’s information portal. Please carefully and thoroughly complete these forms with your current personal and medical information, dietary preferences or requirements and other information as requested.

The Itinerary

We don’t like to blame Mother Nature but she has her off days, and weather conditions can change in a snap and affect our arrival times. There are no guarantees that we can achieve everything we set out to accomplish. A measure of flexibility is something all of us must bring to a voyage. There are nearly 200 recognized sites in the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetlands, and the places mentioned in this itinerary may be changed to others equally as riveting!

Airline schedule changes have also been known to occur in Argentina too so pack a little patience with your extra granola bars. We advise not booking flights until mid or late afternoon.

This expedition starts in Ushuaia, Argentina (airport code: USH), and finishes in Ushuaia, Argentina (airport code: USH).
