As I mentioned in my last video on making cappuccino, cappuccino is the espresso-based descendant of the Austrian drink Kapuziner Kaffee, first recorded as a recipe in 1790.
While the modern Kapuziner is espresso with whipped cream, the original was very different, and it was the inspiration for what we know as cappuccino.
I thought I'd have a crack at making it.
Recipe:
Boiled coffee (you can cheat if you like & use espresso, I wouldn't blame you)
Sugar (approximately two hundred and eleven and a half granules, or "a bit")
Spices (that's all the recipe said, so I used Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger & Nutmeg)
Egg (the recipe didn't say how many, I used one, but I only made enough in total for one approx 10-ounce drink. I used a hen's egg, if you're vegan try a Quorn one, I believe they're called Queggs. Quorn, if you invent that, I'll take 2%, cheers).
Double cream (Double Qweam? Again, Quorn, cut me in, ta)
