Actor Sean Penn tweeted Monday that he and his colleagues abandoned their car on the side of the road in Ukraine and traveled to the Polish border on foot.

“Myself & two colleagues walked miles to the Polish border after abandoning our car on the side of the road. Almost all the cars in this photo carry women & children only, most without any sign of luggage, and a car their only possession of value,” he wrote.

Last week, the Washington Examiner reported that Penn was in Ukraine filming a documentary on Russia’s invasion. He even attended a press briefing in Kyiv to listen to officials discuss the crisis.
