Jen Psaki could replace Rachel Maddow at MSNBC: Report

.

Jen Psaki is a top contender to replace Rachel Maddow at MSNBC as other networks court President Joe Biden‘s press secretary, according to a report.

Executives at CNN and MSNBC both reportedly traveled to Washington, D.C., in early February. CNN interim co-president Amy Entelis and CNN+ programming lead Rebecca Kutler made the trip to the capital to recruit Psaki.

Similarly, according to the report, NBC News Chairman Cesar Conde and MSNBC President Rashida Jones traveled to Washington to meet with the president’s spokeswoman.

Psaki previously announced her plans to leave the role in 2022 when it’s “time for somebody else to have this job.”

A source told the New York Post that Psaki is not close to signing a deal with any network despite being interested.

Last month, Maddow announced a hiatus from her nightly program on MSNBC. At the time, she said the break would end in April. “There may eventually be another hiatus again sometime in my future, but for now, we are just taking it one step at a time,” she added.

Over at CNN, former host Chris Cuomo recently resigned from the channel in disgrace after sexual assault and ethical violation accusations. Afterward, former CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker resigned as well after failing to disclose his relationship with colleague Allison Gollust, who also resigned shortly thereafter.
