Video of Service Dog Helping Woman Lying on Shop Floor Amazes Internet

A video of a service dog helping a woman who had fallen over has gone viral on TikTok, reaching nearly 13 million views.

The clip is of a training run conducted by Ashton Gurnari, who has a service dog called Moose to help her cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety, as well as hypoglycemia.

Hypoglycemia is a condition that results in people's blood sugar levels being lower than normal and it can cause loss of consciousness, which is why Gurnari filmed herself doing a "pass out and get help" test run with Moose.

In the video, which was shared on Gurnari's account AshtonGurnari, we can see that she is standing in a hardware store browsing through items on the shelves, with her chocolate Labrador next to her.

She then sits down and the dog—who she describes as "a hero with paws" on her page—lies across her, before she turns on one side to simulate losing consciousness.

The animal, who is wearing a blue vest, then springs into action by running over to a passerby to alert him to the situation, then getting him to come over to assist her.

Connecticut-based Gurnari captioned the video, which can be watched here: "Pass out and get help training run," alongside a brown love-heart.

The impressive footage has gone viral online since it was posted on March 17, having been viewed a whopping 12.7 million times and surpassed 3.2 million likes.

Many people rushed to the comments section to share their praise of the inspiring video.

One TikTok user, Billy, wrote: "This is awesome! Love dogs so much."

If you are confused as to the difference between service dogs and therapy dogs, American Kennel Club (AKC) Family Dog Director Dr. Mary Burch recently revealed to Newsweek: "Service dogs are trained to perform specific tasks to assist a person with a disability.

"Therapy dogs volunteer with their owners to provide comfort and support to people in settings such as schools, hospitals, assisted living, etc."
