Tarragon is bittersweet with a taste like licorice. It is often associated with French cooking, where it appears in Béarnaise sauce and fines herbes blends. It also features prominently in Persian cuisine. Try it in khiar shoor (Iranian savory pickles) or the unexpectedly refreshing sabzi khordan (a salad of raw vegetables and fresh herbs).

The elusive flavor of tarragon spice does not share the long history of use that most herbs do. It came into popularity in the 1600's in France.You will find it in many classic French sauces including: bearnaise, hollandaise, tartar and bechamel. It is a wonderful fish herb for sole, shrimp and even lake fish. Add tarragon spice to chicken, rabbit, veal, or to make an herbed butter.

I try to keep a plant alive, but this is impossible for me. I so enjoy tarragon! The dried version is delicious!

Tarragon

I threw out all of my grocery store spices, replacing them with fresher options. All of the spices I have tried from The Spice House have been great and tarragon was no exception, elevating and enhancing salads, veggies and anything you cook or prepare to another level. Try their exceptional chili spice. It will not disappoint. Nothing but positive things to say.

The Real Deal

I ordered tarragon from The Spice House because my former spice supplier sent me what seemed to be grass clippings instead of tarragon! It did not pass the “sniff” test. You need to be able to trust your supplier, and now The Spice House has my future business.
