About This Blend
A “butcher's rub” is a coarse mix of spices that’s both flavorful and attractive on meat. We named this blend to honor the hard-working immigrants who were part of the meat industry, working in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago, south of 39th Street between Halsted and Western.
Ingredients
Pepper, garlic, kosher salt, sugar, shallots, bell peppers, parsley.

I have been using it for over 25 years. Ribs, prime rib roast, chicken, and burgers.
I’ve used Back of the Yard for years now. I buy several 8 oz flat packs at a time. It is a great rub for steaks and pork. Sometimes I had some brown sugar.
I’ve been using Spice House for all my dried spices. In particular, the garlic pepper is a wonderful blend of fresh pepper and garlic. I use it almost daily. They also have notable blends. I haven’t tried them but the Lakeshore blend is my favorite. I use it on everything.
We love this. It’s the bomb on steak, chicken, veggies, baked potatoes and even pizza!
I have been buying Back of the Yards for over 15 years. it is the only blend i will use when i grill steaks or burgers. i also use it for quick seasoning on smashed avocados.
