The ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee is urging the Democratic chairman and chairwoman of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees to investigate allegations of “irregularities” and “improprieties” in the 2020 election.
In a letter sent to Jerry Nadler and Carolyn Maloney on Wednesday, Republican Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and James Comer of Kentucky demanded the two Democrats “examine the integrity of the 2020 election” amid claims from President Trump that the election was “rigged.”
“We urge you to immediately convene hearings to examine the integrity of the 2020 election amid troubling reports of irregularities and improprieties,” read the letter.

Trump and his allies have repeatedly contested the vote counting methods of several key battleground states, although the Associated Press called the race for President-elect Joe Biden on Nov. 7. The Trump legal team, led by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, has filed lawsuits alleging election fraud, and Trump himself has refused to concede to Biden.
The bitter partisan nature of Washington was on display in Jordan and Comer’s letter as the two took a shot at Nadler, whom they accused of “baselessly” suggesting Russia participated in engineering a Trump victory in the 2016 election.
“Given your role as leaders of a political party that spent four years baselessly calling into question the legitimacy of the 2016 election with debunked allegations of Russian collusion, you owe it to all Americans to fully examine allegations of actual election errors and misconduct,” they wrote.
Comer and Jordan also accused the Democratic Party of failing to address questions raised in a September report about the legitimacy of mail-in voting.
“Democrats refuse to clean up outdated and inaccurate voter registration rolls, a last-minute move to widespread mail-in voting in some states would have unintended consequences,” the congressmen said.
