Retailers Kmart and Sears have taken down T-shirts that were available for sale on their websites that called Ashli Babbitt, the Capitol rioter who was killed on January 6, an “American Patriot.”
Images of the Sears listing of the shirt, which was available for purchase for between $19.99 and $21.99, circulated on Twitter Tuesday.
The shirts appeared to be listed by a third-party seller and were hosted on the retailers’ sites.
Some social media users noted that the Sears listing appeared to be up since Jan. 8, two days after rioters, including Babbitt, stormed the US Capitol.
By Tuesday evening, the listings on Sears’ and Kmart’s websites had been taken down, and the links now direct visitors to a page that reads, “We’re sorry, but that page is no longer available.”
“Thank you for bringing this product to our attention. This item is no longer available for purchase on http://Sears.com or http://kmart.com,” Sears wrote Tuesday evening from its official Twitter account.
Representatives for Transformco, which owns Sears and Kmart, did not immediately return The Post’s request for comment.
Babbitt, an Air Force veteran from San Diego, has become something of a political flashpoint when it comes to the January 6 siege of the US Capitol.
Babbitt’s husband has sued for the name of the officer who shot and killed Babbitt and even former President Donald Trump has questioned who killed Babbitt.
Babbitt, 35, was shot while trying to jump through a broken window into the Speaker’s Lobby of the Capitol and would’ve provided access to the House chambers.
