2021 a year for countryside development – Salceda
Lawmaker and House and Ways Committee Chair Joey Salceda is positive that 2021 will be the year for countryside development, as tax incentives and major infrastructure projects are in store to spur rural economies.
Salceda cited the anticipated final passage of a pro-countryside Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (Create) Act, the completion of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) Toll Road 4 and its further extension to connect Quezon and Bicol, and the expansion of the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector that will lead to a “Bicol boom” by next year.
Further, Salceda added that Metro Manila “doesn’t need very generous tax incentives. People will invest there, regardless.” He said provinces like Marinduque, Leyte, and Albay “need tax incentives that meaningfully differ in length from Metro Manila incentives.”
