14 BPO firms in Davao suspend operations
At least 14 business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in Davao City have temporarily suspended their operations for the duration of the community quarantine, according to the BPO Covid-19 Task Force.
The task force also disclosed that at least 55 BPO firms in the city are still operating and have complied with the order set by the local government, which required them to either operate with a skeletal staff or offer work-from-home arrangements.
The local government has already padlocked four BPO firms for alleged failure to comply with the order. Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said BPOs are considered a mass gathering that can easily spread the virus to each other and then others.
